Update from Principal Caggia
Weekly Update, 3/15/2020
Dear Apex Families,
WCPSS has closed school from March 16th to at least March 27th
All schools in the Wake County Public School System will be closed beginning Monday, March 16 through at least Friday, March 27. This includes all before and after-school programs. The district is moving Spring Break, moving all remaining teacher work days and using any remaining bank time.
Supplemental Learning Resources
The Wake County Public School System believes that every student, each day, deserves access to rigorous, relevant and engaging learning opportunities.
While we cannot replace the value of the teacher student interaction in the classroom we are working to provide supplemental resources and activities that will help students remain engaged in learning while schools are closed. Check the WCPSS website homepage periodically for additional updates.
Updates on Reopening
WCPSS will provide updates on the reopening of schools on a regular basis as we monitor this situation. We appreciate your support, cooperation and patience during this time.
Food Security
At Apex Elementary School, we want to ensure our students have access to the food they need over the weekends or when school is not in session. We encourage families who need support to shop at the Western Wake Crisis Ministry Mini-Grocery free of charge at 1600 Olive Chapel Road, Apex. Hours are Monday-Thursday 11am-2pm or Tues/Thurs evenings 6:30-8pm. No appointment required. More info at wwcm.org or (919) 362-0657.
If your family is in a position to help with our goal of all students having access to the food they need, consider contributing to WWCM.org or www.feedthekids519.org/ AND follow @apexescougars on Twitter to stay abreast of additional needs.
Thank you
I appreciate your thoughtfulness and support during this time of uncertainty due to COVID-19. Please know that I am here to support and serve you as your Apex ES Principal. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may be having. My email is [email protected].
Apex Elementary’s Vision: One family working together to provide a supportive, rigorous learning environment while developing life-long learners.
Warmest Regards,
Katie Caggia
